BOOKSHELF

Cappellini

BOOKSHELF
Designed by Shiro Kuramata, Bookshelf is a two-sided module made of white matte lacquered panels. The particularity of this bookshelf is the varying size of the compartments, which perfectly reflects Kuramata’s idea that the volume of space required by each object must be proportionate to its dimensions.

In this piece, the extreme visual lightness is paired with the net solidity. Suitable for use alone, where it becomes almost sculptural, Bookshelf can also become a continuous bookcase when composed with numerous modules, or be used to divide a space while still allowing light and air to pass through.

Cappellini

Cappellini was founded in 1946 by Enrico Cappellini in the Italian Brianza region, north of Milan. Cappellini began as a furniture maker specializing in wooden furniture and case goods. After Enrico’s son Giulio joined the company, bringing a passion for art & design, Cappellini experienced a creative evolution that has placed them at the forefront in the world of design and furnishings.
Cappellini’s collections are known for tapping new trends and far-flung talents; often described as a 'tutti-frutti' affair, with minimalism offered up alongside pop fashion, technology, and amoebic forms. Cappellini is proud to have 18 pieces included in the permanent Design Collection at the Museum of Modern Art.
