Sandra Figuerola has explored the different avant-garde movements, from constructivism to Dadaism or Futurism, to create this kilim proposal with powerful geometry and a vibrant chromatic palette. The avant-garde movements are a recurring reference in her work, from which she often draws inspiration as she considers them to have laid the foundations of modernity and contemporary graphic and artistic language.

For the design of the kilims in the Vanguardias collection, Sandra Figuerola has worked by giving more priority to color than to a pictorial geometric approach, seeking a balance between its luminous, vibrant, and sophisticated tones.

The Vanguardias kilim collection is a proposal with an explosive geometric design that seeks to break with prevailing schemes of sobriety. The idea is that these kilims, while being a very accessible resource, function as the focal point of a space, generating a great visual and spatial impact, like a work of art.

The Vanguardias collection includes another kilim model in Green, both available in two sizes: 170 x 240 cm and 200 x 300 cm. This design also features a matching cushion.

Vanguardias is a rug from our kilim collection

The kilim is an artisanal method of rug making that uses only threads, firmly interweaving the weft on a manual loom, without knotting. Due to this process, the result is a lightweight fabric with a pile-less texture, similar to that of tapestries. Furthermore, it is a technique that offers great flexibility in design, a peculiarity that we at GAN explore in depth to conceive rugs with high-impact drawings and details.
