The three-dimensional embroideries of our Momos collection are a reinterpretation by José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales of a traditional textile craft he discovered more than twenty years ago during a trip to northern Brazil, in the state of Maranhão. Since then, that curious fabric remained in his memory until, together with the embroidery skills of our artisans from the GAN Women Unit, he managed to translate it into the design of a collection of rugs, poufs, and cushions.

Its unique fractal structure recalls the geometry of butterfly eggs, while its light felted wool texture provides an exceptional tactile experience. This is not the first time GAN has reinterpreted a traditional embroidery technique, as this is the mission of the GAN Women Unit. The Indian artisan women from our social project are great experts in embroidery. Their experience and skill allowed them to perfectly understand Brazilian craftsmanship and reinterpret its embroideries very precisely.

The Camel rug from the Momos collection comes with a matching pouf and cushion with which informal settings can be designed. It is a model available in two sizes, 170x240 cm and 200x300 cm, and in anthracite color.

Momos, a collection of GAN Spaces

GAN Spaces are collections meticulously constructed from innovative concepts and artisanal production methods, such as the Embroidery of Momos technique. Suggestive proposals that, starting from a rug, are capable of structuring an entire family of modules and accessories with which to design an environment. A set of interconnected designs, conceived to project stimulating contemporary-style atmospheres, with an open, flexible, and casual configuration.
